"The Urban Cabin"

"The Urban Cabin". This is so different from the youthful modern look that I usually find myself. The idea came from a photo I saw of a NY hotel room with a plaid Pendleton blanket. I was drawn to the space and especially drawn to how well it all came together. How great would it be to have a comfy, down to earth space that is attractive. Here is my brainstorm.

"Urban":
1. Shiny and metal (modern)
2. Clean lines
3. Neutral backdrop
4. Open and organized
5. City

"Cabin":
1. Comfort
2. Weekend getaway(peaceful)
3. Pattern (plaid)
4. Warm and down to earth
5. Woodsy (pickup truck country)

Pretty much, the two are opposites but I want to bring the two together. I hope for a comfortable space to live, to be in and to entertain in....something I can add to. It should feel relaxed, natural, purposeful and straightforward.

The story I'd like my space to tell is my story....young professional proud of his local roots travels frequently to nearby quiet places to escape the city. Silly? I often wonder what would a stranger think or say about my space. Could they get to know me, what's important to me and understand how I live by the design of my home? What story does your home tell? Is it your story?

Oh, don't you sound like ol' Nate Berkus here? :)

I know you can achieve this vision. And I'm pretty sure that my home tells my story so far. Casual, classic, and functional.
